14th - 17th July: Asturias

From the Basque country we headed to the Asturias coast and the sun finally came out - looking a lot like the Cornish coast.

The church in Llanes

Sea defenses cunningly turned into art (and a tourist attraction) at Llanes

Stunning coastal scenery in the Asturias

Sunset over Playa de Torimbia

Church overlooking the inlet near Niembro

Breakfast on the beach - Playa St Antolin (a surfer's paradise apparently but the waves weren't exactly stacked out to the horizon!)

Cuevas del Mar beach (skinnydippers visible if you look close enough!)

Fully clothed Ali!

Llastres - and cloud over the Picos in the distance!

Some weird festival in Llastres where they carried a big religious doll out onto a boat in the harbour...

...and sailed around for a bit!

The picturesque, if a bit pretentious, Tazone - THE place for expensive seafood and cider restaurants.

The shell house at Tazone

Harbour at El Puntal...

...home for a few days amongst the eucalyptus trees.

One of many 'Horreos' in Asturias - originally used as granaries.
