Welcome to a slightly different blog… From now on Ali will be writing a purely climbing blog and I’ll be covering the “other stuff”. So if you want the beta on his latest crushes click HERE, or read on for the more fluffy stuff from our travels and non climbing life...

Canada - Vancouver

The first and last few days of the trip were spent in Vancouver. I don't normally like big cities, but was pleasantly surprised by Vancouver, with its harbours, bridges, parks and flowers. It was immaculately clean too, and for the most part we felt very welcome and comfortable! We did come across some less salubrious parts of the city on our wanderings (I have never seen so many homeless people or addicts in one place) but for a large city it was a nice place to spend a few days.

On the plane... It's rather a long way to Vancouver!

Grid streets (or should I say "Blocks"?!) and skyscrapers... a far cry from Montbrio

Quite a market for window cleaners?

Our hire car and friend for the next six weeks! I love the patriotism that adorns every vehicle.

Views of Vancouver from Grouse Mountain - yes we did the grouse grind (an hour of stair climbing as you slog up 853m (2,800 feet) in about 2km) rather than take the cable car to get here!

Looking down on Vancouver

Fruit displays at the amazing markets on Granville Island

Too good to eat?

Truly tempting!

I was amazed by all the different coloured pastas... mmmm

Bagel making before our eyes... shaped, boiled then into the fire ovens. Bread doesn't get much fresher than that!

Houseboats on the harbour... we actually saw a seal swimming around them!

A minicab tootles over to the Roger's Stadium...

The Rogers Stadium - home to the Canucks ice hockey team. When we saw people milling around I thought we might be able to catch a cheeky pre-season game... turns out people were queuing for Linkin Park. Boo...

Strange giant bird in the olympic village...

Science World ball and the lights of Linkin Park...
You can also see dragon boat teams training - it seems to be all the rage here!

Saying goodbye to Vancouver from the plane!

Over the Rockies and Columbia Icefields - who needs a charter helicopter flight when you have Air Transat?

Wedding bells!

The official wedding photos can be found on Rob Booker's website: http://www.robbooker.co.uk/weddings/natashaalasdair but here are a few pictures of the preparations, the Sunday hog roast and a few post wedding activities.

Preparations started with the car's annual wash...

And some pampering for us too!

We met our wonderful photographer Rob Booker at Yorkshire Sculpture Park to discuss our wedding photo requirements and have some "warm up shots" taken. Surprisingly good fun wandering around the boggy park!

Another of Rob's shots!

The wedding cake making extravaganza begins - all that chocolate (and more) was used!

The meticulous task of chopping maltesers for the bottom layer... or was it chop one, eat one??

The nerve wracking assembly process... I bet Prince William didn't have to do this!

And decoration....

Then it was to the Angel Inn for the wedding!

Sunrise over the Angel - blue skies at 6am when I was up!

Married! Rob nails the confetti shot :-)

Beautiful Bouquets

The Angel's incredible sticky toffee pudding :-)

An evening walk around the cottages to work up an appetite for cake!

Cake cutting - number one

Cake cutting - number two

The production line begins, so many cake varieties to choose from!

The inside of the chocolate cake in all its glory - there's still a lot left!

Ali enjoys his first breakfast as a married man!

Friends and family arrive for the hog roast in Cracoe - although most of my family remain in bed ill:-(

Admiring the display of embarrassing baby photos - some crackers in there!

Meanwhile the big pig cooks...

Preparing the pig - and look at all those wonderful desserts!

The feast begins...

Enjoying some lawn games in the sunshine (no rain today!)

Lawn darts...

Extreme lawn darts in the winds!

A walk with the Durhams around Grassington

Henry loving the bumpy ride down the cobbles!

Admiring Linton Falls

Buying some hand knitted socks down by Linton church.

Another walk (timed well between showers) from Wood Nook campsite - I love the Yorkshire Dales
